I recently was given the opportunity to write a guest post for Ruth Hendricks' photography and lifestyle blog. She asked me about my process as a writer, and it made me wonder if anyone really follows just one process.
Ground Control was definitely written by discovery, and what a ride that was for me! I had no idea what my characters would get up to, which was a lot of fun, but they caused me no end of trouble as they got themselves into dire situations that I had to write them out of!
So, fellow writers, what do you think? Do you plan your novels in advance, with outlines and character descriptions? Or do you just see where the story takes you and hope for the best?
You can read Writing by Discovery on Rutheh.com.
Pantser! But then I had to do like, a thousand re-writes to get to the 'final' draft... so maybe more plotting would be helpful. 🤣
Rewriting never ends! I tried to plot my last one, and aside from it doing its own thang, it just wasn't as interesting. You do you.
